The Junior League of Peoria, Inc., established in 1936, is an organization of more than 450 active and sustaining members committed to promoting voluntarism and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The League’s purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

In 1979, the Junior League of Peoria purchased the Ballance-Herschel House, located at 256 N.E. Randolph, with the goal of restoring it to its original appearance. The Ballance-Herschel House serves as the headquarters for the League. In addition, it serves as a visible statement in support of historic preservation.

The Junior League of Peoria reaches out to women of all races, creeds, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and a commitment to volunteerism.
